San Mateo County, CA (USA News) – June 11, 2024 – Special Learning, a company dedicated to bringing quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to the world, is proud to co-sponsor the first-ever virtual IABA International Positive Practices Conference, hosted by the IABA Research & Education Foundation. The three-day conference will take place from June 17th to 19th, 2024.
"We are incredibly honored to support this groundbreaking event," said Karen Chung, Founder and CEO of Special Learning. "Our shared vision of promoting positive, person-centered behavioral support aligns perfectly with IABA's mission. Together, we can make a profound impact on the lives of neurodiverse individuals (particularly those with complex, co-occurring conditions including autism and IDD diagnoses) and their families worldwide."
A Legacy of Positive Practices
The Institute for Applied Behavior Analysis (IABA) was co-founded in 1981 by Dr. Gary W. LaVigna and Dr. Thomas J. Willis with a passion for helping individuals with autism and IDD improve their quality of life using a humanistic, integrated, whole-person centered approach using positive behavioral strategies. Their framework, Multi-Element Behavior Supports (MEBS™), focuses on creating positive environments, skill development, motivation, and non-aversive interventions to ensure safety and well-being for individuals and their communities.
MEBS focuses not primarily on eliminating challenging behaviors but on understanding the individual and improving their quality of life by achieving five valued outcomes: community presence and participation, autonomy and self-determination, continuous involvement and development, increasing independence and productivity, and developing social relationships and friendships.
Join the Movement for Positive Change
The 2024 IABA International Positive Practices Conference will feature over 50 presentations from industry leaders to share knowledge and celebrate the positive impact of evidence-based practices worldwide. This conference will allow participants to earn over 100 continuing educational credits from the BACB, QABA, IBAO, and APA.
